Strengthening your spirit in the New Year!
From the theological seminary, we wish you a Happy New Year! The new year brings you an opportunity that you cannot afford to bypass. I am talking about your spiritual health and how it affects every aspect of your being. God created us in His image and He wants us to live a life that is not defeated, but a life that is alive, rich, full, and abundant. It seems year after year, we look at the new year as a chance to get physically fit and many fall into the trap of buying the next great thing to start the journey of weight loss and begin a healthy eating regime. I am one of those at the theological seminary that has fallen into this trap before. But what about your spirit? We have been given a great responsibility and privilege to honor and take care of our bodies. From the beginning, God made us different. Have you ever noticed that when He made the animals and the world He said “Let there be”, but when He made man He said, “Let us make”? We are different and God intended us to be different than any other creation. He brought Heaven and Earth together to make us! God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit (remember “Let us”?) together created us to be different.
Have you ever noticed that when you do not feel good physically you do not feel like studying or praying? There is a connection! We read in Genesis 2:7 that God breathed life into us. God created us and loves us so much that He wants us to live a life that is vital, rich, and full. God gives us the freedom to choose how we want to live. With freedom comes the chance to increase our spiritual health, which will increase our physical health. They go hand in hand. I know, by now you on the edge of your seat asking, how do I do that? Well, by digging into God’s word and understanding who He is so we understand who we are and how we are supposed to live. Luder-Wycliffe School of Theology is here to help you do just that.
